Hydro Guard Pro Series (Lifetime Warranty)

HYDRO GUARD PRO SERIES is an elastomeric, liquid applied, emulsified asphalt membrane designed for waterproofing foundation walls and other structures. For exterior waterproofing, applying Hydro Guard rubberized membrane is one of the most important to sealing a leaky basement. Hydro Guard is a professional grade waterproofing material that is far superior to damp proofing waterproofing material which is far more common.

It is good to know the difference between waterproofing and damp proofing, and unfortunately some waterproofing companies will use damp proofing material to cut on costs. Hydro Guard is a true waterproofing material because the amount of amount of rubber and tar used inside the dense membrane material, while damp proofing material uses more water and much less rubber and tar material.

For a proper basement leak repair, RCC Waterproofing uses two layers of Hydro Guard rubberized membrane in the waterproofing process when doing basement foundation repair on the outside of your home. The first layer is applied once the foundation wall has been cleaned and parged with hydraulic cement. After the first layer of rubberized material has been applied, a waterproofing reinforcement sheet is applied to strengthen the first layer and then lastly followed by the second layer of Hydro Guard.

Hydro Guard Pro Series Features

  • Seamless low modulus elastomeric membrane
  • Retains flexibility over a wide temperature range
  • Excellent adhesion to most construction surfaces such as concrete, stone, wood, preserved wood, metal, and polystyrene insulation (ICF)
  • Can be applied to damp or green concrete
  • Bridges cracks
  • Contains no solvent and is environmentally friendly
  • Can be applied in one coat or in multiple coats with Waterproofing Reinforcement Sheet

Uses

Used for waterproofing poured and block foundation walls, insulated concrete forms (ICF), footings, split slab floors, and retaining walls

Limitations

Not designed to perform as a permanently exposed surface. Must be protected from damage during construction. Do not apply to excessively wet surfaces. All asphalt emulsions contain a certain amount of asphalt particles requiring that the contractor establish a suitable screening technique for spray applications.

HYDRO GUARD PRO SERIES shall not be applied when ambient (air) and substrate temperatures are below 5˚C. The product should not be applied if it is raining, or if the possibility of rain is likely within 16 hours. The product should not be applied if it is expected that the ambient temperature will fall below 0˚C within 48 hours.

Preparation

All surfaces must be sound, dry, clean and free from oil, grease, dirt or other contaminants. Form tie holes must be filled with cementitious material or asphalt roofing cement and allowed to cure. Concrete surfaces should be free of excessive fins, voids or spalled areas.

Cracks up to 3mm (1/8”) wide: Apply HYDRO GUARD PRO SERIES providing 1.5mm (60 mil) coating. Embed 150mm (6”) wide 990-06 Yellow Jacket reinforcement.

Cracks greater than 3mm (1/8”) wide: Install BlueskinR WP 200 Self-Adhesive Waterproofing Membrane complete with primer. Apply firm pressure to entire membrane surface to ensure full contact and bond.

Cracks greater than 12mm (1/2”) in width are not acceptable.

Application

Single Coat Method: Apply a trowel coat of HYDRO GUARD PRO SERIES at the rate of 2 L/m2 (5 US gal/100 ft.2) over the entire area and allow to cure.

Heavy Duty Reinforced Method: Apply a prime coat of HYDRO GUARD PRO SERIES diluted 25% by volume with clean water, at the rate of 0.5 L/m2 (1.2 US gal/100ft.2) and allow to dry. Apply each ply of 990-06 Yellow Jacket into a coat of HYDRO GUARD PRO SERIES -38 applied at not less than 0.5 L/m2 (1.2 U.S. gal/100ft2). Brush 990-06 Yellow Jacket into place with a soft bristle brush to eliminate wrinkles, air pockets or blisters and obtain full contact. Overlap 990-06 Yellow Jacket extending at least 50 mm (2”) at all joints. At all corners and angles and at the junctions of waterproofing on foundation walls with waterproofing on footings, reinforce with two extra coats of HYDRO GUARD PRO SERIES and two piles of 990-06 Yellow Jacket at least four inches each side of the junction. Apply a seat coat of HYDRO GUARD PRO SERIES over the whole area at not less than 1 L/m2 (2.4 U.S. gal/100ft2).

Curing and Protection: Allow to dry thoroughly and apply protection layer prior to commencing backfill. Protect cured application from damage caused by backfilling by using 990-31 Protection Board adhered with HYDRO GUARD PRO SERIES is a spot adhered pattern 150 mm (6”) o.c..

Clean Up

For uncured material use water and use mineral spirits for cured films.
