How to prevent Leaky Wet Basement in Mississauga, Toronto, Scarborough and North York?
What is the cost of preventing a Leaky Wet Basement in Mississauga, Toronto, Scarborough and North York? What is the Cost of Basement Waterproofing? How can you pay the best and lowest price for a quality and qualified Basement Waterproofing company and still use a professional Basement Waterproofing contractor?
The right air and moisture barrier is one of the most critical components of the building envelope. It prevents water from coming into contact with the concrete foundation, effectively eliminating capillary suction’s effect.
Better Science, Better Product
DMX Membranes is a manufacturer of World Class Air Gap Membranes that are used in the fields of waterproofing and flooring. DMX’s membranes are renowned for their innovative and advanced designs. We manufacture DMX AG (Foundation Wrap), DMX Drain 5X (Drainage Membrane) and DMX Drain 11X, 15X and 18X (Commercial Drainage Membrane).
Comfortable, Mould Free Basement Floors
Your home and family deserve the best. Space-age contoured foam and unique dimple design provide the ultimate sound absorption while allowing air to circulate beneath your floors, evaporating trapped moisture and eliminating harmful mould growth. The highly durable construction of our underlayments outperforms all other basement flooring underlayments, providing years of long-lasting quality, durability, and peace of mind. Our flooring underlayments are easy to install, and there is NO NEED for expensive plywood or OSB subfloors.
Waterproofing DMX AGtm
DMX uses a specially formulated Polyethylene that provides a high environmental stress crack resistance to alkalines and acids found in the soil. In addition, DMX is made from 70% recycled resin. Our special extrusion process utilizes low heat and low shear to prevent heat degradation in the final product. The use of antioxidants and lubricants further ensures a smooth, superior-quality membrane that outperforms the competition.
The following is an overview of the constructions that will utilize the unique and effective moisture control attributes of our residential and light commercial product lines.
These membranes are designed to control moisture that affects concrete foundations. Our membranes provide the ultimate moisture protection with ease of installation.
- Residential foundation walls
- Light commercial foundations (less than 15′ in height)
- Golf clubhouse and athletic complex foundation protection
- Single-level underground parking structure
- ICF (residential), wood, concrete, specialty foundations
- NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USE WITH CONCRETE BLOCK WALLS unless the walls are completely waterproofed prior to installation of the foundation wrap
- Underslab moisture barrier
- Crawl spaces
- Concrete top side retrofits for finishing basements into living space
- Landscape drainage for residential settings
- Drainage and ventilation between built-up residential roof decks
- Protection of liquid-applied waterproofing products in non-hydrostatic soils conditions
DMX Membranes manufactures a full line of accessory products to aid in the installation of the DMX AG™. These accessories withstand the rigours of the construction site.
HOW DOES DMX AG™ WORK?
DMX AG™ creates an air gap between wet soil and your basement wall, allowing the poured concrete walls to breathe. It also provides a clear negative side drainage path to disperse any ground moisture that might find its way behind the membrane. Wet soil never touches the wall next to your living space, thus reducing the chances of water infiltration into the basement.
The DMX AG™ is made of HDPE, an impermeable water material. When installed according to our installation guide, it keeps water exterior of the foundation walls.
This means dryer basements for the end user and a wider choice of finishing materials for completing a basement area.
WHY DOES DMX AG™ HAVE DIMPLES?
The dimples in DMX AG™ create a negative side air gap that eliminates the hydrostatic load (pressure) that can push water into the foundation via cracks and capillaries as discussed earlier.
Without the dimples, in DMX AG™ the product would be in direct contact with the foundation exterior, minus a negative side clear drainage path that could trap moisture against the wall should it get behind the membrane and force water into the basement.
The key to DMX AG™’s success is the dimple design for hydrostatic pressure and ground moisture control.
CAN WATER GET BEHIND DMX AG™?
In most cases, this is highly unlikely when installed properly. However, even if the sheet was damaged and water got behind it, the air gap would prevent water from getting into the home by diffusing hydrostatic pressure build-up and providing a drainage path to the footing tile.
Because there is no direct soil contact with the wall, water just drains down to the footing and away through the drainage system.
The configuration of the dimple structure allows for a continuous flow of water along the path of dimples and air gaps to the footing drain and resists the transport of drainage water to the foundation wall.
The “conical” shape of the dimple provides a low resistance to vertical water flow and minimizes lateral movement of water, providing maximum protection of the foundation wall from moisture contact with the wall
DO I NEED SPECIAL FASTENERS TO INSTALL DMX AG™?
You will need DMX Washers™ to attach the membrane to the foundation.
Use the 1¼ inch concrete nails for poured concrete foundations and 1½ inch coated deck screws for ICF foundations.
DMX FlexTrim™ is available for sealing cut edges in the membrane where the flat panel has had to be trimmed off, such as around the basement below-grade windows or along the top of the membrane on a slope.
For further details, download our DMX AG™ installation manual.
ON WHICH TYPES OF FOUNDATION CAN I USE DMX AG™
Every type you can think of – poured concrete, insulated concrete forms (ICF), and wood foundations.
CAN I USE DMX AG™ FOR REPAIRS AND RENOVATIONS?
Absolutely! DMX AG™ will protect everything from a modest crack in a residential foundation to the stone foundations of century-old churches and homes.
WE HAVE HEAVY CLAY SOIL. CAN WE USE DMX AG™?
Yes! We suggest installing an extra row of DMX Washers™ in the body of the DMX AG™ to help stand up to the vertical pressure heavy clay soil can exert on the membrane and the wall (see our installation manual for details).
