You want to know how to fix water in basement after rain. First, you need to call a basement contractor and tell them you need to fix the water problem before starting work. If you don’t, the contractor could delay the work or leave the job on hold until the water problem subsides

The basement is one of the most vulnerable areas of your home. It’s large and deep. It doesn’t hold water very well, but it contains a lot of weight. During a storm, it can be carried all over the house.

The next time you think about a storm, remember what happened with water. We all know that rain is a natural rainwater treatment process.It picks up all the pollutants from the streets;

The only problem is that this rainwater gets to the basement in a hurry. It’s not waiting for the ground to absorb; it certainly isn’t waiting for it to soak in. The soil is porous. It absorbs water and does not release it very well .

Your basement is like a sponge. It absorbs all the water that comes in and is not very good at releasing it. You may end up with basement water standing for several days.

The key to water problems in the basement is to do a water test on the area. You can have a professional come in and conduct a sample or run a couple of tests yourself. What you need to do is put in a hosing down to measure the water level. If you’re impatient, you can use a portable device to measure the water level in minutes.

For starters, find out how much water is already in the basement. There are many ways to do this. The simplest is to use a hose that’s connected to a kitchen faucet.

Then hose down the basement, starting at the basement’s base. Take a sample every few feet, and fill up the container. You can use a water reading sensor to record the level of water.

Next, you need to find out how much water is still in the basement. Using the same type of hose, take a couple of containers down the stairs and get a sample of the water in the basement

If the water is light, it’s not penetrating the basement; it’s just sitting there. If the water is deep, the basement contains much more water than it needs. That’s why you see water in the basement after rain.

You want to find out if the water is coming from leaks. Or you want to find out how much water the basement contains. Whatever the reason is, you need to find out what the water problem is.

If you live in Toronto or any other city of the Greater Toronto Area, it is almost a given that sometime during the spring and summer months, water will leak into your basement. Although this sounds like an unlikely scenario, it can happen anytime during the year.

And sometimes, the water can be challenging to get out. And for some people, fixing the water problem in their basements may involve paying out a lot of money. Fortunately, there are some simple steps you can take to make it a bit easier

Aquatech was wonderful right from the first contact to having Richard come out and give us a very complete and detailed quote to the two man crew who were here exactly on time and completed the day hours ahead of time. All the locates were taken care of and within a week of contacting them the job was completed. The workman did a fabulous job and were very respectful of our property. They reviewed the scope of the work before they started and asked if we had any questions. When the work was complete it was difficult to see where they had worked and dug the trench. Everything was tidier than before they started. We are very impressed and in a world where household repair companies can be less than favourable, Aquatech stands head and shoulders above any of them. We would highly recommend this company. We also have a life time transferable warranty too. Bravo. We will definitely be telling all the people we know about our wonderful experience. Thank you.

We had a flood disaster the day after we got the keys for our new home. Aquatech Waterproofing responded to my request for help quickly and came to access the damages the same day. They gave us several options for repairs as well as prevention that were fairly priced and a quick turnaround time. They executed our chosen plan quickly and did a beautiful job. They have been very responsive, answering questions about the products we chose and we recommend them to anyone that needs quality work done in a timely manner. Very compassionate and empathetic for our situation as well.

EXCELLENT experience. Andrew was the first one to arrive and was extremely kind and helpful. Igor and Basil joined Andrew a few minutes later and all three of them worked very hard and finished this massive job in one day. These are some of the hardest workers I have ever seen. There were no hassles or surprises and Andrew, Igor and Basil were very skilled and courteous. Also, Nico was VERY flexible with our constant changes of plans and was very accommodating and understanding. An excellent experience all around - could not recommend more highly!

Terry was friendly, fair, and transparent on his work and recommendations. Other bidders could have gouged myself on the price but he was honest. He kept costs downs but the quality was still top notch. He treated our family like one of his own without being “fake” to get the job. He’s as genuine and real as they come.

Slava and his crew did a fantastic job of installing piers and raised our sinking front concrete 4 inches. Very courteous, hard working crew! They hand dig as opposed to other companies that wanted to use a backhoe thus, saved our shrubbery and trees. I would highly recommend Aquatech!

While you’re looking for ideas on how to fix water in basements after rain, there are some items you should know. So pay close attention to the six points below.

  1. Don’t purchase a waterproof basement. Waterproofing your basement is only a good idea if the water is leaking into it from the outside. And the best waterproofing material is not cost-effective.
  2. Water leaking into your basement; you’re probably getting water through your walls. This is a sign that the sealer has failed.
  3. If you have drywall in your basement, make sure that your drywall has been sealed and is not rotting. Also, sand down the wood for the first two or three years after moving into your new home. Then, sand down again as your home ages.
  4. Suspect that you have a leak in your basement? Check for other signs of water problems such as hot spots, mould and mildew. Be sure to use this service regularly as this will help prevent more severe water damage.
  5. If there’s a leak in your basement, consider hiring a professional to ensure that the repair will work. It is essential to have your basement repaired right away if you have water damage in your basement. The worst part about getting water in your basement is the smell.
  6. Keep a store of bottled water for emergencies. Make sure you know the nearest available water source so that you don’t have to get into a crawl space and go looking for a source of clean water.
