Once we completed the installation, the basement stayed completely dry, even during simulated heavy rainfall conditions. Because the system includes both a check valve and battery backup, the homeowner now has reliable protection regardless of power outages or storm intensity. In addition, the improved drainage tiles ensure water flows efficiently into the pit rather than pooling nearby. The work is backed by Aquatech's warranty, giving the homeowner lasting confidence heading into every future storm season.

    Sump Pump Installation Collingwood

Sump pump installation Collingwood homes need most often follows a basement that's already flooded once – don't wait for a second time. Our team sizes and installs pumps based on your home's actual water volume, not a generic package, with a sump pit and discharge line designed to handle Collingwood's spring melt and heavy bay-effect storms. For added protection, we recommend pairing your sump pump installation with a battery backup, since power outages and severe weather often happen together in this area. Every installation is tested under real water flow before we call the job done.

    Foundation Repair Collingwood

It's a strong fit for Collingwood homes with structurally sound foundations that simply need more clearance to finish the space – valuable given the town's tight, expensive real estate market. At roughly a third of underpinning's cost and with a faster timeline, basement lowering solves a low-clearance problem without the scope of a full structural project.

The Best Time to Act on Our CTV News Advice in Collingwood

Our CTV News Toronto segment explained how to spot basement water problems and how they’re properly fixed. In Collingwood, there’s one more question worth asking: when should you do it? The snowbelt answers that question for you.

    Spring shows you the problem
Collingwood’s heavy snowpack melts quickly, so spring is when leaks reveal themselves. Watch for the signs from the segment: water stains, a musty smell, and white, chalky residue on the walls. Take notes and photos of where they appear.

Summer and early fall are the time to fix it
Once the ground dries out, inspections and repairs are much easier. In particular, work that involves digging, such as exterior waterproofing, goes faster on dry, unfrozen ground. That way, everything is finished before the first heavy snow.

Winter is when it pays off
By the time lake-effect snow starts piling up, your basement is ready for the next spring melt. In addition, if a problem appears mid-winter, interior repairs can still go ahead year-round.

However you time it, the work is backed by our lifetime warranty.red by a lifetime warranty, so the repair stays your last one.

Waterproofing Services In Collingwood: When You Need Them

Waterproofing technician inspecting installed sump pump basin in basement floor

Waterproofing helps protect your home from future water damage. Some common signs that your basement may already have water issues include:

If you notice any of these issues in your Collingwood home, it may be time to schedule basement waterproofing services before the damage becomes more expensive to repair.

Professional waterproofing helps protect your foundation by sealing vulnerable areas and directing water away from your home. Instead of relying on temporary fixes, trust Aquatech Basement Waterproofing Collingwood to identify the source of the problem and recommend the right solution for your home.

    Basement Waterproofing Costs In Collingwood

The cost of basement waterproofing in Collingwood depends on several factors, including the size of the foundation, the severity of the water intrusion, the type of foundation (poured concrete, block, or stone), soil conditions, and whether interior or exterior waterproofing is required.

On average, exterior basement waterproofing runs $110 to $500 per linear foot, while larger or more complex projects may cost between $10,000 and $35,000. Interior waterproofing solutions are typically more affordable at $69 to $190 per linear foot, since they require less excavation work. Homes near the waterfront and the Nottawasaga Bay shore deal with higher ambient moisture and elevated water tables that keep hydrostatic pressure against foundations even during dry periods, these properties often need a more robust drainage solution than a standard inland home. Older foundations in the downtown core may also require additional preparation work before waterproofing can be applied effectively.

Signs Your Collingwood Basement Needs Attention

A dry basement doesn’t happen by accident – it’s the result of catching small warning signs before they turn into bigger, costlier problems. Here’s what to watch for in Collingwood homes.

Spotting any of these in your Collingwood home is a sign it’s time to call in basement waterproofing services before the damage spreads further and the repair bill grows with it.

Even hairline cracks let water through once the bay’s elevated water table pushes against your foundation

    Cove joint leaks

Water seeping in at the floor-wall seam – the most common leak point in Collingwood basements

    Musty smell and mould

A lingering damp odour means moisture is present air fresheners won’t fix the water itself

    Bowing or shifting walls

A structural warning sign – Collingwood’s freeze-thaw winters put repeated stress on aging foundation walls

    Basement flooding after rain

Sudden downpours and spring runoff near the bay can overwhelm drainage that isn’t built for it

    Professional Foundation Repair Collingwood

When Collingwood homeowners search for foundation repair near me, it’s usually because of the hydrostatic pressure that builds up from the area’s high water table near the bay, not just normal settling. We don’t stop at patching the visible crack, we trace it back to what’s actually pushing water against your wall.

Whether the right fix is an interior drainage system or a full exterior membrane, our approach is built around your home’s specific construction, not a one-size-fits-all method, so your foundation stays solid for decades, not just until the next spring thaw.

Wet Basement Repair Collingwood Homeowners Trust

A wet basement is rarely down to a single cause, poor grading, aging or collapsed weeping tile, and foundation cracks usually show up together as one compounding problem. Watch for musty smells, damp walls, and water pooling on the floor after a heavy rain or spring melt.

Our wet basement repair process in Collingwood starts with a full inspection to catch every contributing source, not just the obvious one, backed by a lifetime warranty on the fix.

    Advanced Leaky Basement Repair Collingwood

Aquatech’s leak repair process for Collingwood homes starts by identifying the true cause, whether that’s a cove joint, a crack, or hydrostatic pressure from the bay’s elevated water table, before recommending a fix, all backed by a lifetime warranty.

Not sure if you need repair yet? Watch for these signs:

    • Musty odours that won’t go away
    • White, chalky residue on walls (efflorescence)
    • Damp patches with no visible crack
    • Water pooling after heavy rain or spring melt

Collingwood Weather and Your Basement: Lake-Effect Snow and Mountain Runoff

Collingwood sits on the shore of Georgian Bay, right in Ontario’s snowbelt. When cold air passes over the open water in winter, it picks up moisture and drops it as heavy lake-effect snow. As a result, Collingwood often gets far more snow than cities only a short drive inland, sometimes in sudden, intense bursts.

All that snow becomes water in spring. Meanwhile, the slopes of Blue Mountain rise just west of town. Melt and spring rain run down those slopes toward the lower ground where most of Collingwood is built. Consequently, homes can face meltwater from their own lots and from the hills above them at the same time.

Here’s what Collingwood homeowners should do:

Redirect runoff on sloped lots. If your home sits below a slope, a French drain carries mountain runoff around the foundation instead of into it.

Clear snow away from the foundation all winter. Don’t let banks pile up against the walls, because they melt straight into the soil beside your basement.

Make sure your sump pump can keep up. A fast spring melt pushes a lot of water at once. A properly sized sump pump handles that volume.

Protect your window wells. Deep snow fills them every winter. A well-drained window well stops meltwater from reaching the window.

My basement sump pump room wall just below my outside stairs and veranda were wet when we had more than 1 inch of rain. I called Aquatech Basement Waterproofing, and assigned Eric to meet me and assessed the work to be done and provided a very reasonable quote, and the work was scheduled to meet my schedule. There were 2 crews of 2 men all from Ukraine, all very knowledgeable, professional and did a wonderful job. They protected the flooring from the my main doorway right down to the basement room where the work was being done. The first 2 man crew removed the Styrofoam from that was on the basement walls and ceiling, moved my battery backup sump pump and moved to a safe locatiion while working in a small area. They broke the concrete floor around the room down to the footings, which needed to be to add weeping tile. They cleaned the area as they worked, removed the concrete debris and then brought in the required material to install weeping tile. The second crew assisted with the installation of the waterproof membrane on the walls, install the weeping tile and cementing of the part of the floor where the weeping tile was installed and added to the sump pump basin. They reinstalled the light and light switch, wall plug outlet. This all was done in a few hours. I would highly recommend Aquatech as their staff are very knowledgeable and very efficient in doing their job. I would definitely use them again if I have any future for any basement Waterproofing, or water issues. Thank you so very much Dianne P. The were very professional s advised that I ca Eric came by promptly, assessed the situation, gave me a quote, very reasonable and scheduled

Thanks to Andrew, Will, Vasyl, and Yuriy of Aquatech Waterproofing, I no longer panic when the weather forecast calls for rain. The four-man team applied interior waterproofing to a large portion of my basement in less than seven hours. They placed Dimpleboard on the walls, installed and covered new four-inch plastic weeping tile pipe and also backfilled, cleaned and cemented the entire work area. The crew was courteous, on time and professional. Company representative, Nico, who appraised the job before the work began, was also very knowledgeable and kindly answered all my questions. The cost was extremely reasonable and I have a transferable life-time warranty for their services. I highly recommend them.

Aquatech Project Consultant Richard responded ultra-quickly to my call for an estimate on 2 cracks on the inside of my basement foundation wall, visible only after I removed panelling & insulation & only when it rained heavily & water was pouring through those 2 small cracks. Richard impressed me with his assessment expertise & the speed at which he provided the best quote & solution for my leaks & my budget as a retiree on a fixed income. The repair on the outside wall with weeping tile replacement & utilities locates was scheduled & communication with Rita in the office & follow up with Richard was excellent. The day of the repair, Water Proof Technicians Vasyl & Yuriy arrived on time & ready to work. They were totally professional, polite & prepared with expertise & the right equipment to complete the task. They impressed me to no end with their work ethic & support for each other rotating in & out of the trench to get down to the footings. They installed the new weeping tile, cleaned the foundation wall & revealed 2 very long cracks which they V cut and repaired with hydraulic concrete. The rest of the process was their standard applications of Aqua Block, fibreglass mesh, another layer of Aqua Block, a layer of Poly-tarp, & a Dimpleboard membrane installation. They back filled the trench & cleaned up the area to perfection. Aquatech is blessed to have Vasyl & Yuriy as employees – thorough & meticulous. They are 12 out of 10 in my opinion!!! Note: 2 of my neighbours were impressed & asked for Aquatech’s phone number from me. Thank you Richard, Rita, Vasyl & Yuri.

Aquatech consultant, Shawn McGirr, investigated my water problem and provided a realistic and cost effective solution. A few days later Bob and Alex arrived to do the work. They both worked very hard and were efficient and clean. They completed an incredible amount of work in a very short period of time and left the worksite as clean as it was before they arrived. I’m confident that the issue has been resolved and comforted by the lifetime warranty.

Alex, Eugene, Mike and Igor did an amazing job with my basement waterproofing project. They were very personable, very hardworking and very efficient. I was very pleasantly surprised how quickly they finished the job. Everything was cleaned up and put back in order when they were done. I definitely recommend Aquatech Waterproofing. From my first meeting with Tony to discuss the project, I could tell they were the right choice

    FAQs About Basement Waterproofing

How much does basement waterproofing cost in Collingwood?
Basement waterproofing in Collingwood typically costs between $3,000 and $15,000 depending on the method, foundation size, and severity of the water problem. Interior waterproofing runs $65–$150 per linear foot, while exterior waterproofing ranges from $100–$300 per linear foot. A free on-site inspection is the most accurate way to get a firm number for your specific home.
Do I have to pay a deposit before work starts?
No. The estimate is free, there’s no deposit to book the job, and payment is due only once the work is finished. You can review the quote at your own pace before deciding. Call 705-806-5410 or book online.
Is the water in my basement from the foundation or a plumbing leak?
Check where and when it appears. Water along a wall or crack after rain or snowmelt usually means the foundation. A wet spot near a bathroom, laundry or water heater that shows up in dry weather points to plumbing, so start with a plumber. If they rule out the pipes, we’ll find the source for free.
My sump pump is nearly 20 years old. Should I replace it before spring?
Yes. Most pumps last 7 to 10 years, and spring melt is exactly when an old pump is most likely to quit. We install a Liberty pump as standard and recommend a battery backup in case a storm cuts the power. See sump pump installation.
Water is leaking from my deck into the room below. Can you fix it?
No, we work below ground only, on foundations and groundwater. Deck and balcony leaks are a job for a roofer or general contractor. If water is also coming through the foundation wall, we can repair that part.
Can you inspect several units in my condo or chalet building?
Yes. Tell us how many units need checking when you book, and we’ll schedule enough time for the technician. They’ll call ahead and meet you at the first unit.
Why does my Collingwood basement leak every spring?
Spring is the most common time for basement water problems in Collingwood because snowmelt from the Blue Mountain slopes saturates the ground rapidly while it’s still partially frozen. This creates a surge of hydrostatic pressure against foundation walls at exactly the time your drainage system is most stressed. If your basement leaks every spring, it usually means your weeping tile system has failed or your foundation membrane has deteriorated. Both are fixable and both are problems Aquatech addresses routinely in this region.
Is interior or exterior waterproofing better for Collingwood homes?
It depends on your foundation type and the source of water. Exterior waterproofing is the most comprehensive solution and is ideal for homes where budget allows and excavation is practical. Interior waterproofing is more cost-effective, can be done year-round, and is the right choice for most older Collingwood homes where exterior access is restricted by neighbouring structures, mature trees, or lot size. Aquatech will assess your specific situation and recommend the most appropriate method – not simply the most expensive one.
Do new homes in Collingwood need basement waterproofing?
Yes, in some cases. New construction waterproofing membranes are designed to last – but rapid soil settlement, disturbed fill, and the intense freeze-thaw conditions of the Collingwood area can cause premature failure. If you’re noticing moisture in a recently built home, don’t assume it’s normal. An inspection will determine whether the issue is a membrane failure, a grading problem, or a missing drainage component.
Does Aquatech offer a warranty on basement waterproofing in Collingwood?
Yes. Aquatech provides a lifetime warranty on all basement waterproofing work including projects completed in Collingwood and throughout Southern Georgian Bay. If covered issues arise after our work is complete, we return and fix them at no additional charge. It’s the same warranty we’ve stood behind since 1996.
I need an emergency waterproofing service in Collingwood who is available 24/7?
You can contact us right now for an urgent quote. We provide free, transparent estimates for homeowners across Collingwood. Because we have local specialists on the ground, we can quickly dispatch an expert to inspect your foundation and provide a clear, upfront project agreement with no hidden fees.
Can Aquatech help with the Collingwood waterproofing rebate program?
Yes. Our team is familiar with the Town of Collingwood’s Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy Program requirements. We provide properly itemized invoices, help coordinate permit applications, and can guide you through the documentation needed for a complete rebate submission. Contact us to discuss what rebates may be available for your specific project.
What's the difference between damp-proofing and waterproofing?
Damp-proofing is a lighter barrier that resists moisture vapour but isn’t built to withstand standing water or real hydrostatic pressure – it’s often what’s used in new-home construction as a baseline. Waterproofing is a more robust system designed to actively block and redirect water under pressure, which is what a bay-adjacent property like yours in Collingwood typically needs for real protection.
I have a damp smell in my basement. What companies offer free estimates for basement waterproofing?
That damp, musty smell is a classic indicator of trapped moisture or hidden mould behind your walls. We offer free, no-obligation estimates to track down exactly where that moisture is originating. Our certified specialists will perform a thorough diagnostic to find the root cause of the odour and recommend the most effective solution for your home.
Can you recommend a foundation repair specialist in Collingwood that offers a long-term warranty on their crack repairs?
Aquatech Waterproofing is the top recommendation for foundation crack repair in Collingwood. Every crack repair and waterproofing project is backed by a lifetime warranty, one of the longest and most comprehensive warranties offered by any contractor in Ontario. With nearly 30 years of experience and over 1,000 five-star Google reviews, Aquatech is the proven choice for Collingwood homeowners who want a permanent fix. Get a free estimate →
Which waterproofing method is best for a basement?
The best method depends on your specific situation. Exterior waterproofing is the most comprehensive – it stops water before it contacts your foundation – but requires excavation and is a larger investment. Interior waterproofing is less disruptive and highly effective at managing hydrostatic pressure. Most Collingwood homes near the bay with chronic moisture issues benefit from a combination: interior weeping tile with a sump pump, and exterior membrane where access allows. A certified specialist should assess your foundation before any method is chosen.

My basement is wet after it rains. Who should I call to get this fixed?
A wet basement after rainfall typically points to a failure in your exterior drainage, a compromised foundation wall, or a blocked weeping tile system. Call Aquatech Waterproofing at 647-693-8820. Our Collingwood specialists will identify the exact source of the intrusion and recommend a permanent solution – not a temporary patch. We offer free on-site inspections with no obligation.
